GT-40 or Cobra Intake? and...
I would like to know the differences between the GT-40 and the Cobra intake and which is an all out better performance intake as well. Also what do some of you think of the FMS E-303 Cam, I read a couple reviews at stangnet.com and some said it sounds really good but it has an idealing problem with EFI.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
Re: GT-40 or Cobra Intake? and...
I like the gt40 intake because of the lbs. it saves, but for more room to grow the cobra because you can port it larger, cast vs steel tubing, installed trickflow stage1cam. and heads last week runs good just bumped the idle 200 rpm

Re: GT-40 or Cobra Intake? and...
I am running a ported cobra intake and an E-303 cam with Canfield heads.
I like the cobra intake better for the reasons listed above. The E-cam sounds great but many cars have trouble with a surging idle. I have to have my timing at 16 degrees, my TPS voltage at .98 and my fuel pressure at 38 psi with my 24# injectors or I get an idle surge. After I got it all dialed in it has a nice choppy idle at 800 rpms. My car makes over 300 RWHP and torque so I would say that the parts perform pretty well. |

yea the e cam surge, worse on sn95's, my car surged at first, but thats because my exporer intake had vacuum leaks, and i had to raise the idle, and fuel pressue to 40 psi, kinda like dark said.
also i get many compliment's on the sound/lope of my car, i do hear the tfs1 sounds good too, all in all, i chose the e-cam so i would keep some midrange power because my gears suck. |
Re: GT-40 or Cobra Intake? and...
i read in a past MM&FF that the only difference between the GT-40 and Cobra intake is the GT-40 has tubular runners and the Cobra doesnt (apparently). and of course they use the same lower intake as well.
