'95 cobra mass air
i would appreciate any help with this, as i am getting varying answers; will a 70mm mass air meter from a '95 cobra 5.0 work with a '95 gt 5.0 without modification. i have been told because the computers are different, this will not work. any input appreciated. thanks.

Re: '95 cobra mass air
I think they're the same size (inlet wise). I run a meter off of a '98 Cobra, no problems. The way I understand it is that the injector/fuel tables are in the EEC so if the meter inlet/sensor tube are the same size then you shouldn't have a prob. even thou MAF are off different models w/ different injectors sizes. All of this is just from my experience. Curious why you're thinking of a different meter. Is the stock one shot?

Re: '95 cobra mass air
The Cobra Mass air is calibrated for 24 pounders. A stock GT has 19 pounders. While the car may start up and run, getting it tuned correctly would be difficult.

I know for a fact this is true for the 93 cobras but I am not sure about the 94-95's. |
Re: '95 cobra mass air
I can't say 100% sure but when I ran the electronics from the '98 and the '95 (just used the 80mm housing from the '98) the car ran fine and the voltage from the o2's were pig rich for both and that was before the KB SC. Saving for a tweecer and 42's so I can drop the FMU. I've heard 2 different stories: 1) tables are in the sensor & 2)they're in the ECU. If anything the car felt stronger w/ the '98 sensor and it was just as rich as the '95 electronics were now the sensor may not had been as dirty as the stock but still.

Re: '95 cobra mass air
thanks to all of you who have responded so far. i think i'm starting to sort this all out. read the tech article on the site concerning maf. gets kind of complicated, but i got it. am planning on getting the '95 cobra maf for my '95 gt, and when i can correlate installing it in conjunction with the other mods i'm planning, re-programming the ecu for the modifications. sound right? or no----
