306 to a 347 questions...
My 306 has 30k on it since new in 2001.
I've got a bad piston ring in number 5, so while I've got it out, I think I'll stroke it. I think I can probably reuse my flattop TRW pistons, but little else on the shortblock. I drive the hell out of it. I plan on putting my TFS TW heads back on too. But probably new springs, lifters, and pushrods since I use 1.7 rr's. I've got a 75mm tb, 80mm MAF, and 24# inj. I plan on doing this next month, all machine work will be done by a reputable local shop. Thanks for any tips... |
Re: 306 to a 347 questions...
I don't think you'll be able to reuse your pistons.
When stroking the engine the piston not only goes deeper into the bore, but comes up higher in the bore the same amount. Stroker pistons usually have the wrist pin moved up toward the crown of the piston to allow for this difference. |
Re: 306 to a 347 questions...
Stock compression height pistons WILL NOT work in a stroker. The only exception to that is stock CH 302 pistons in a windsor block with a 393 stroker crank.
I Gar-un-teee those TRW's won't work with a 347 crank. Neither will the rods. |

I should've known better...thanks.
Now, any opinion on stroker kits? http://www.dssracing.com/347rk.html this looks promising! |
