vacuum readings

Tonight I hooked up a vacuum gauge on my engine.
When the car was at operating temp, the needle bounced between 14-15. I know the needle should be steady but what does the bouncing indicate?
What other tests can I do with the vacuum gauge that will tell me different things about my engine?
FIW, my cam specs are 274*/284* .519/.523 lift 110 LSA

Re: vacuum readings

Lopey idle equals bouncing needle. Mine does the same thing.

Yep, the more overlap, the more the tendency to bounce.

I'm surprised you can get 14-15 with that cam. With my 268/274 I get about 10 in. HG at 700 rpm idle.
