5 speed conversion

Hello. I am new to this site. I have a 1992 gt with an automatic. I'm interested in converting to a 5 speed. Could anyone please tell me what is involved, and if it is worth the trouble. Thank you.

are you wantin a borg-warn t5 or a tremec? new or used? anyway other than those questions. you'll need a pedal assembly, clutch cable and flywheel. im not sure but i think you'll need a different crossmember. I'm sure it would be worth it.

I will use a tremec for sure. New or used depends on the deal I can get. I've looked into it furthur, and I have made the decision to switch to a 5 speed. I think the cross members are the same. Thanks for your help, and any additional info would be welcomed.

Tremecs are a good trannys. you'll need a different bellhousing, its not the one that will work with a t5. im not 100% sure but i think the ones used with the SROD 4spd's will work. there are aftermarket bellhousings though if needed.

I needed another crossmember on a AOD-T5 swap I did a few years back. Don't forget the pilot bearing. You'll also need a new reverse/neutral wire from Ford ($35). I would suggest an aluminum driveshaft as well for good balancing.

If you do this, and you later decide to swap ECM's, make sure you clip the wire going to pin 30, or else you'll fry the new ECM.
