331 Dyno Numbers!!
Just went and dynoed my 331 last night. It made 485 HP @ 6100 RPM.... 442 FT/LBS @5200 RPM. I was quite happy with my results. What 1/4 mile times should i expect to run in an 87 GT with a C4 w/ 3900 stall!!

Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
Im not sure about 1/4 mile times, but I am curious about your engine mods besides the stroker. I am building a 347 and was hoping for hp #'s in the same range as you. Those are very impressive #'s. I am new to this site, so I hope you don't mind me asking you these questions. I look forward to a reply. Thank you.

Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
Given good traction, proper shifting etc etc, you should be solidly in the 11's. I'm guessing around 11.60-11.50 range.
Tell us what your combination is. :D |
Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
At 3000 lbs that car should run mid tens.

Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
Sorry for not listing my combo.. but here it is
AFR 185 heads Vic. Jr. intake Trick Flow Stage 3 cam 830 cfm carb... made most power with this carb I was looking for low 11's.. so it may be possible!! |
Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
IMO, step up to AFR 205's
you should see 11.00's, 10.9's |
Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
Do you like your stage 3, how is it on the street?
|
Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
Don't have it in the car yet.. just got it home.. But the cam sounds good and i can't wait to drive it.. Yeah i know if i step up to the AFR 205's i will make more.. Always save something to do later..

Off the trailer look for a low 12, then with a little bit of tuning, and some seat time, deep in the 11's, trust me, she's gonna FLY!!! |
Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
Zach87GT, I really like those numbers. Is it possible for you to give me the information so I can put together an engine just like that?

Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
4barrel
Sorry for the late post.. i tried emailing you but it didn't work.. don't know why My combo is: AFR 185 heads Vic Jr. intake Trickflow stage 3 cam 331 stroker kit Thats pretty much about it.. what else do you want to know? Let me know |
Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
Thanks for the help. Are your heads strait out of the box, or have they been machined? What balancer are you using? Are your pistons flat topped, pop ups, or dished?
|
Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
yup.. heads are right out of the box.. used stock balancer.. pistons are flat top and give me about 10.7-11.0 compression..
|
Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
Thanks. From the sound of it, this combo isn't too exotic, and isn't too expensive. It makes plenty of power for a street car like mine, and it'll have some reliablity to boot. What's not to like?!

Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
OK Zach87GT, I hope I'm not too much trouble. I always was told, the only dumb questions are the one's you don't ask. I'm new to alot of this stuff, so help a Mustang lover along if you will. Haha.
What is the c.c. of the heads you have? I'm sure it's a full roller motor right? What length are your rockers? Can you give me the torque specs on the bottom end and head bolts? How much clearance between your bottom end internals? What degree is your cam installed? How's your timing? I know I'll need a main girtle, but what about my stock main caps? What octane level is your engine running on and at what altitude is your engine set up for so I can adjust for my altitude level? What type of spark plugs and headers are you using? And is your lifters hydrolic or solid? Sorry for so much details, I like to get all my ducks in a row and get it right the first time. Thanks. |
Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
You might get more information if you send him an email or a private message. He might not want to give every little detail just right out over the internet where everyone can see.

Re: 331 Dyno Numbers!!
We tried the email route, but he said it would'nt send. Hey Zach, how about a PM? Thanks.
