Swap to carb?
 

I have a buddy with an 88 GT with GT40P heads with upgraded valvesprings, Lunati 509 cam (.509, .509, something like 282, 284 duration), GT40 intake, C&L 75mm MAF, Motorsports 1.6 RR, 3.73s, T5, full 2.5" exhaust with off-road pipe. The best MPH the car can run in the 1/8th is 85. Meanwhile cars in town with the same heads, similar cam and equal driving style run 92 MPH, the only exception being that they are carbed. These guys are trying to get him to carb the car, while I keep preaching the driveablity, reliability, and torque of EFI. What do you guys think? Anyone pick up significantly swapping to carburetor? Keep in mind that we have no emissions laws here, and the car is driven very often to work (interstate and town driving).

Simply put, a carbed setup is cleaner under the hood and much less of a headache to work on. I can't wait to read jester's response to this.

On a daily driver I would keep it fuel injected. I dont think its the fuel injection that is holding him back(even though I like carb).
Could be a number of other things, fuel pressure, injector size,etc etc etc.
Plus, he can always supercharge the fuely

You can supercharge the carburetor setup too. But then that's where the fuel injection outweighs the carburetor. Fuel injection is way easier to supercharge than a carburetor setup. No way I'd run a supercharged carburetor setup on a daily driver. Even though Paxton did recently come out with a nice looking kit for carbs.
