Smoking???
I have a 91 5.0 GT with AOD. The cars lets out puffs of smoke with when flooring it (more out of the right side). It is white smoke with some black to it. Hard to explain. It does not do it at idle and only a little bit of smoke hardly noticeable at part throtle. The car has 60,000 miles on it but i went ahead and had all the seals on the heads replaced (stock) and still does it. My main questions are this:
1. I didn't think it was the piston rings because of it only happening at full throtle? 2. Could this be an injector problem dupping to much fuel into one of the cylinders on the right side since the smoke is much worse out the right pipe? 3. I have also heard about the AOD causing smoke out of the right side but i can't remeber why. Does anybody know? |
Re: Smoking???
The AOD isn't going to cause any smoke. There isn't any modulator to rupture and allow ATF to get into the engine. The only connection between the engine and the transmission is the flexplate, manual shift cable/lever and the TVS cable.
The smoke has to come from the engine somewhere. |
Re: Smoking???
Clean out your PCV screen. It will suck oil into the intake when it cloggs.
Back of intake, pull out PCV and rubber, (Screen under PCV), get a long wood screw and screw it in a bit, pull out and clean. Its just a wire mesh thingy you cant tear up. Not saying thats all of your problems, but this almost always becomes one eventually on all the EFI's. |
Re: Smoking???
I pulled the pcv and there is no screen at all. So now I will have to go find one. The local parts stores say you don't need it so they don't carry it. Bunch of idiots. Thanks for the help hopefully I can find a screen.
