Another Injector Question
My car is all stock except for Flowmaster cat back exhust, AFR, 190LPH fuel pump, and upper intake spacer. 88 SD AOD car. I did a search on injector size and read alot of great posts, and learned alot. I plan on in the future, bulding a 300-350hp 302 for my car. Right now Iam replacing the lower intake gasket, and I know Ive got a bad injector. Iam sure I could fine some used 19# injectors pretty easy. Has any body here run 24# injectors on a stock SD car. I thought about upgradeing to them and adding some spray while I build the other engine. I know need to convert to Mass AIr to, but wanted to wait until Iam done with the new block. Thanks! :)

Re: Another Injector Question
I would not do it - I've seen more fail than get it to work with SD. Try finding a set of Orange body 19# injectors on an Explorer or Mountaineer - I got mine with my Explorer intake and they work great.

Re: Another Injector Question
I'm not too sure the speed density system can handle a injector upgrade like that. Used injectors are easy to find, I've got a set of 19s in my garage, let me know if you're interested

Re: Another Injector Question
My car didnt like the 24 #ers with Speed Density.

Re: Another Injector Question
Old friend used 24's on his almost bone stock '87. Got a little idle surge, but it handled the swap pretty much okay otherwise.
Doing an injector swap to an otherwise relatively stock SD engine will put the computer pretty much at it's maximum ability to adjust. You're better off going with 19s rather than risking it. |
Re: Another Injector Question
you will be fine up to around 380hp with SD and 19s

Re: Another Injector Question
Thanks for the replys. 19#ers it is for nowand Ill stay SD. If I can get 350 hp out of a SD setup thats great. If I can get down in the low 13's Ill be very happy. Again thanks for the help!

Re: Another Injector Question
the 350HP is gonna be flywheel, not rear wheel..........SD with 19# can get you into the 12s depending on the weight of your car.

Re: Another Injector Question
Yah I relize that on the HP at the fly-wheel. I used to work for Cummins Southern Plains Power, run many truck on a chassis dyno. I used to recal Cummins PT (presure time) fuel fumps and injectors. This Mustang is the first car injection ive messed with. But with the help Ive found here with all you guys , dont think Ill have any problems figureing it out. Again Thanks

Re: Another Injector Question
I have gone 11.60s @ 116 on a not perfect pass. With 19lbers and SPEED DENSITY. I finish a motor today. A stocker with the holly set up on top. 19s on it, I,ll make a pass next week. Then I am going to spray the hell out it. That should be 11.20 or so. I,ll keep you posted
