Carb guys, I need advice
I bought a 1993 coupe that has a carburated 306 in it. I bought it just to resale it to my girlfriends brother. I am under strict orders from her to detune the hell out of this car before I sale it to him.
It has Trick flow Twisted Wedge heads, A 750 Demon double pumper, Edelbrock performer RPM intake, Trickflow stage 2 cam, Headers, exhaust etc... I am removing the Trickflow Heads and putting some freshly machined E7's on it with springs good enough for the Trickflow cam cause I really dont want to go through all the work involved in putting in a stock cam. I will just tell her carbed cars idle like that. :D At this point I assume I will also have to remove the carb cause its too big. What carb would you guys reccomend for a daily driver and what jets would be a good starting point. I am carb retarded I dont know if I need a small double pumper or a vacuum secondary carb or even a 2 barrel. Thanks, |
Re: Carb guys, I need advice
600 CFM vacuum secondaries, electric choke is what I'd throw on her. ;)

Holley.....I personally despise Edelbrock carbs.

Re: Carb guys, I need advice
And put a heavy (black) secondary spring in the Holley to make the secondaries more difficult to open. That should detune it some. And reset the timing to about 5 degrees before TDC.

The only real negative is that is has a 4 banger rear end in it. I am going to end up with. *Trickflow Twisted Wedge heads and roller rockers *Edelbrock performer RPM intake manifold *750 Race Demon double pumper *Trickflow stage 2 cam *5 inch auto meter tach *Pro 5.0 shifter I paid 2000 bux for the car. I get to keep all of the above parts and I am re-selling it for 2400 bux. Pretty sweet huh, :D I am about to drop in my stroker motor. I will probably just bolt all this stuff up to my old 302 block and have a back-up engine. |
Re: Carb guys, I need advice
Stay with Holley, or Demon. Although I've heard some complaints about Demons lately, figures cuz I just bought one. Darnnit!
And if the tranny is out of a '95 it may look like a T5, but I'm bettin it's a T45. ;) |

Damn sweet!! what are you gonna replace those parts with when you sell to g/f brother?? thought you was gonna leave cam and intake on and just replace the heads and carb?? |
Re: Carb guys, I need advice
Nah, they switched to the T-45 with the 4.6L V-8 starting in 1996.

What sux is carburators are more expensive than I thought they were. I may just jet down the Demon and leave it on there. |
