130A Alternator DIES every 2-3 months
I have a 1990 mustang pulley setup on my 95 mustang. I also have a supercharger drive crank pulley, 4 inch accessory and 8 inch blower drive.
I did a 331 stroker motor swap in May, and I bought a new 130A alternator for it, and it died 2 months later. I replaced it with a new one, and it just died again this past week (3 months later). Does anyone have ANY insight on this? Are the electronics I am running a bit much where they would zap these new alternators so quickly??? -9 autometer gauges -Flex-a-lite dual fans (set to go on at 180 degrees) -MSD box -basically stock fuel system with a 255 in-tank pump and a Vortech T-rex external pump -42 lb injectors and matching MAF Could it be this, or could it be that the engine's extra heat causing the alternators to die? I noticed a marked higher difference in temperature when I held my hand over a just turned off 331 engine than the 302. Any help?? Anyone!!   |

Where is it grounded? I think I remember rounding mine directly to the frame..If yours is already on the frame, try taking it off, sanding the connection and using a thicker wire ( lower gauge) for the ground. Also, I wouldn't rule out the alt itself, was it a reman one or used one? Did it come with a warranty?
