Question about exhaust
I am going to get a new cat-back exhaust system one way or another. I have heard the American Thunder and it is too loud for me. I am looking for something throaty, but a little bit more low profile. I want it to be relatively quiet on idle, but to be louder when I punch it.
Someone told me that the MAC system would be better for what I was looking for. Any Ideas? Thanks, Sonics2042 |
My son and I are building up an 88GT with a MAC system including: long-tube headers, short H-pipe with cats, and MAC cat-bak. I heard this setup on a 289 who ran the same setup. The idle sound was certainly beefier than stock setup - and when he kicked it sound was really deep. Owner said it was due to the long-tube headers vs shorties.
We'll have our new system installed in a week or two and the engine running again. |
IF you don't want too loud, DO NOT get 2 chamber Flowmasters + off road h-pipe (but if you do want mean, throaty and loud, get them-- awesome). Get the 3 chamber Flowmasters with Delta Flow Technology. If installed with stock Mustang h-pipe (with the 4 cats), I think they'd be EXACTLY what you'd want. Seriously consider those.

I have 3 chambers, with an offroad H-pipe, and it is THE perfect combo.! Not to loud when cruising, but sounds 3 times better than 2 chambers!
