'87 cobra "i don't think so

I've heard poeple saying that ford made a 1987 mustang GT cobra. I'm scepticle but,, sorta feel stupid 'cus when I bought my 'stang, 3 years ago, it had silver and white cobra tags on the L/side hatch, ashtray cover and, under the hood on shoud. All of which were remved except ashtray one. Don't tell me I had something and didn't even know it. If so what special options (if any) did they come with, or are they worth anything? Any info is great....
-thanks-

Ford made the 1987 mustang GT part, then canadian dealers added the cobra stickers and such, other than appearance they are exactly the same as a normal GT of the same year
i hate it when people say they have a cobra when it turns out its just a canadian GT

Nothing to feel stupid about!! The 1993 Cobra had the tag you describe on the left side of the rear hatch, opposite the Ford oval on the right side. I'm sure whoever you bought your '87 from bought a few of these tags and went a little crazy with them.

Just read fivehohpatrol's answer and I stand corrected. I didn't realize canadian GT's had Cobra emblems added to them. I take these Cobra posts personally. When I was forced to sell my '93 Cobra, the "gentleman" who had left a deposit with me, came back to my house saying he couldn't buy my car anymore because he found a '92 Cobra convertible!! No matter what I said to him, I couldn't convince him that no such car existed. He thought I was lying to him to get him to buy my car instead. Besides, it was gratifying knowing he was getting ripped off.

BilLster what are you talking about?
are you saying that ford didnt make a 87GT? thats what i get out of your "there really wasnt a gt pakage" comment
if you want something appropriate to call them then call them canadian cobras, not cobras, the only real fox body cobra was made in 93 by SVT not by canadian dealers
im sure there will be plenty of guys here to back me up

The Canadian model was called Mustang Cobra. Not GT Cobra.

I wonder what the title would say when it was issued here in the US? I personally think it would be cool to have a Cobra, any way you look at it.

It may be technically the same as our GT, and the only "real" fox Cobra was the 1993, but to answer MastaNEEK's question, it's true.

Some Dumb @$$ told me that the canadian cobra (gt cobra) had 300hp stock instead of the 225 on the other cars. i said BS and he got mad.

now that he has a 87 gt cobra, i wanna find him on the street & see what those extra 75hp run like!!

I'm a little confused. Why would Ford produce a Cobra and only sell it in Canada. I have nothing against Canada, hey I loved my trip to Niagra Falls, but it doesn't make any sense. If it is true, were there any differences between this car and the GT. Please explain!!

I think the reason they were called cobra's in Canada was because the mustang name was already copyrighted.. and they probablt are kinda rare in the US.. 'specially down here in Az, I've seen a few 93 cobras... no canadian ones though ;-)
