Engine doesn't like timing First time since I have owned my stang, I had her at the shop. Took a light to it and found the timing was only set a 8*. Bumped it to 14*, took it out, I couldn't believe the difference. My Chevy's never took so kindly to a bump in timing that I could feel like that. Only thing is, it sounded like a shaking piggy bank under the hood. So, we experimented until the detonation was gone, and could only go to a max of 10.5*. Still a noticable difference, but not whee i want to set it at. We were thinking I may just need to clean the TB out, maybe the EGR, probably carboned up or something, then try to advance it again. What do you guys think? ------------------ Todd 1995 GT/T-5 Pulleys; 65 mm TB; Flowmaster cat-back; Mac off road H-pipe; FMS aluminum driveshaft; short-throw shifter; HD clutch; Cobra R's; Cobra front and wing |

Good Tuneup in general. Plugs wires cap rotor. then High Octane fuel 93. even stock motor mustangs with high timing LIKE high Octane rated GAS. with a 302 you can go as high as 16-18 degrees, or at least I have.. diff cars are diff though ------------------ SOLD THE 87GT, .. Since I bought the car, I have been running 93 octane because I wasn't sure if the previous owner had already bumped the timing up. Even knowing it is now at the factory setting, I still run the high octane. It's a Mustang, it just doesn't seem right to pump 87 into it, you know? ------------------ Todd 1995 GT/T-5 Pulleys; 65 mm TB; Flowmaster cat-back; Mac off road H-pipe; FMS aluminum driveshaft; short-throw shifter; HD clutch; Cobra R's; Cobra front and wing |

My 95 also loves timing, but I have bad detonation. My MAF has been going bad though. Tonight it finally grenaded. Maybe you could use an aftermarket MAF. In a couple days I'll tell you how mine takes to the timing advance http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif ------------------ 1995 Mustang GT |
