Ford dlr says they need # off old O2 sensors to replace them?
Parts guy said he didn't know what kind I had unless I brought in the O2 # off old sensors. He said he couldn't be sure what to replace them with and it could make a big difference.
Is there not a standard sensor for year and make? I did a search on 02 sensors, but couldn't find this info., just info on why, how and what kind of problems you have with old sensors. Most all the on-line catalogs I've looked at list more than one choice for my '89. Best thing to do, is pull your O2 sensor and write down the numbers stamped on it. then put it back in. This way your car won't be out of service. Double work and a pain in the butt.
Sometimes, if your parts guy wants to, I think he can give you the proper one using the VIN #. ------------------ '89 LX 5.0 - 5 speed. Original Owner '94 E-150 4.9 Hi-Top Conversion Van |
Just go to Auto Zone and buy some new ones. That's what I did and they work great. If you have long tubes make sure to tell them you want the long wires.
