Default Probe 347-e

Just read an artical in 5.0 Mustang on the Probe 347-e. Apparently this motor ran over 350 hp with Edelbrock heads and manifold, all CARB emission legal. It almost sound too good to be true. With 9:1 compression you could probably run a small 6# supercharger, get nearly 400 hp and be able to register it.

Anybody have any experience with this motor or have some input?

347's are capable of making over 400hp N/A. 350hp sounds about right for a properly tuned 302 with those mods.

I believe this is the second time they have registered such numbers in their emissions legal 347 (I think the first article used the owner's Stang and got higher numbers). I have a Probe (Coast High Performance) 347 in my 66 Mustang. I have not had it dynoed yet, but can tell you it has a ton of power. I have nothing but great things to say about the people at CHP (Probe). Quality parts, quality work, and great people.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll probably call in my order today. I have a 155lph fuel pump in the tank at this point. Will this be enough to feed a N/A 347 with 30lbs injectors? I'll probably install an adjustable fuel regulator to help it along.

I dunno. The guy who is building my 331 (works for Ford as a powertrain enginer) built a 347 not too long ago and it dyno'd at 440 HP. Nothing fancy...Dart heads, TFS intake...

Was that 440hp 347 dynoed on an engine dyno with gross numbers? If that was net installed in the vehicle after a RWHP conversion to crank hp, he either got a crap dyno run, used the wrong conversion numbers, is full of ****, or he has some serious work done.

Most 347 combos dyno between 375-425hp N/A with good parts. 440 is serious N/A power for a 347.

440 HP at the tires. Someone else inside Ford tuned it. These guys don't play around.

My N/A 347 dynoed at 442rwhp 505rwtq.

We built it here local and it does have the best of everything.

Please take this as an objective opinion.

ANY mass producer of engines. DSS, Coast, etc is going to have QC concerns. I would stronngly recommend you find someone LOCAL.

You can buy the parts anywhere , but the difference comes in the balancing, and builidng of the motor. A shop pumping out hundreds of motors a month can't simply put the time into EACH one like a local guy.

Do a search on this and other sites BEFORE you spend your $$$.

440rwhp equates to 530hp at the crank. That's the equivelent of 460hp at the crank for a 302. In other words, that is a race engine. No special stuff isn't getting a N/A 347 anywhere NEAR 440rwhp.

To give you an idea, the Dart heads and a TFS intake would be very hard pressed to get an N/A 302 to 375hp/310rwhp in street car form. I don't care who tuned it. They are full of **** if it's a street engine without SERIOUS work to it. Getting another 100hp out of that engine would require yates heads, 12:1 compression, a radical cam and about 8000rpm+.

I agree. Without more cubes or some power-adders I just can't see that kind of power coming out of a 347. Dart heads and the TFS intake are good pieces, but not that good...
