Post problems with new combo.. minor but still

ok heres the deal i have the 306 with edelbroks and GT40 intake.. well the car just doesnt seem to impress me much it doesnt quite have that seat of the pants pull to it i was hoping for. the car is 5speed with 4.10's it wont even spin off a roll in second?. wtf I think something is holding it back.. now i know i have a bad connection (dirty connection) on my mass air meter and something is throwing a check engine light in but the motor is PERFECT so its gotta be in the EFI.. help me fix this thing cause EFI is the ONLY WAY TO GO in my book..

Hell, my 87 broke them loose rolling inm second with pullies and H-pipe with 2.73's. Your engine sounds killer. If it were mine, and I had all that money invested in it, I would take it to a dyno and have them do there thing.

the first thing i would do is run a code scan on it to see why the light is on. that might help. but if the only thing that seems to be a prob is lack of low end power then perhaps you should see if it pulls harder at 6000. you may have built a motor with a power peak in the high rpm range. which can be a good thing since you wount have a traction prob.

I used to have a big problem with traction with almost a stock motor and drag suspension but after all the mod’s that I now have I still have a little problem hooking up but not near as much as I did before. I pulls real hard up higher in the rpm's and not so hard down low, But that is good on the street because I hook up a lot better and win races instead of just sit and spin.

Were the 4:10 gears installed by a good shop because gears with too much gear mesh can bind up the drive train. Do they whine at all because that would be a definite indication of improperly installed gears.
Even with a cam with a higher power band you should be able to get rubber in second with 4:10's for christ sake.
