Problems since I got my Novi 1000
I just had a Novi 1000 installed on my 93 5.0.
The car ran great before, now, since the blower addition, I'm backfiring, the engine is surging/racing and the belts squeal when I begin to make boost (~3500-4000+). Backfiring....I have Motorcraft plugs gapped to the stock gap. I have been told I should move to about a .34-.38 gap on these. Is this cool and should it assist in reducing the backfires. I have the stock ignition and coil. I have a 155LPH pump, the Paxton FMU that came in the blower kit, but no Adj. Fuel Reg. Surging/Racing....the car, when idling, sometimes goes into a pattern of where it goes from about 700-800 to about 1100 and back, then it repeats this again and again and again. What might be the cause. Belt Squealing....when the car gets about 3500-4000+ RPM range, the belts start to squeal...what's up here? I attempted to tighten the belts a little more, but it didn't make a difference. I'm scared to tighten it anymore for fear of damaging the pulley and spindle on the blower. Any help would be great. Might it be an ignition/coil problem?
