Question Exhaust with about $700 ?????

Hey guys,
I haven't been on here in a while with my new job and all I've been kinda busy but I really need your help.

I have only about $700 bucks to play with and I want to redo my exhaust. I'm not sure what it has because the car came with it but I'm pretty sure that it is Dynomax. I know that it has the stock H-pipe which definitely has to go. I need some serious help and suggestions about what I should get with that money.

I want to get the off-road H-pipe but I don't want to get caught with it being illegal and all. I've heard that the X-pipe isn't quite as loud and may not be as obvious to the cops that it may be illegal.

I'm sure you guys know how my money can best be spent so please give me a hand.

I am thinking about getting rid of the mufflers that are on there too so any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks alot

Hey again guys,
I'll keep this short and sweet. I just wanted to bring this back to the top. I'm leaving work in a few minutes and I hope that some of you guys are too so you can get home and write back to me and give me some help.

Thanks again

Lightbulb Exhaust upgrade

A Bassani X-pipe is about $275. H-pipes are $100. to $200. depending on type and manufacturer.

A DynoMax Super Turbo catback system is around $300. with the 2 1/2" pipes.

Headers range from $150. to $350. but average about $250.

You should be able to convert your exhaust to headers, an X-pipe, Cat-back system and accessories for just about $700.

Frankly, headers on a stock 5.0 won't give you a lot so you may want to make those your last item to buy.

Choose carefully and shop for price. Summit is good but look around and call around before buying.

I don't recommend brands - others will - but I like the DynoMax products and Ford Racing headers are good quality but not cheap. The Bassani brand X-pipe is good quality, too.

Thumbs up Agree

I agree with Mr 5.0 on this one.

If you want to stay legal there are a number of high-flow X and H pipes out there with converters on them, they are not cheap though.

Mufflers are something you might just want to get out and listen to many different cars,me personally I am getting sick of the sound of 2 chamber Flowmasters at every corner you come too.

Borla is probably the most expensive muffler out there but it has a great rep,Dyno-Max is a great product, and many others,Flowmaster is a great product also just that everyone has them now.

Good luck in your quest, and one other thing off-road pipes X or H will be louder than their converter equiped counterpart.

ok guys,
Thanks so far.
I have a deal to buy MAC short tube unequal length headers and a MAC off road h pipe for $325. I need to know fast whether or not that is a good deal and I should jump on it. I actually need to know before the end of the night.

Thanks again guys,
P.S. Do you guys think I should worry about getting caught with the off road pipes or just throw them on there.

not too bad of a deal you got there. where i live i don't have to pass inspection so I don't worry about getting caught.
