well honestly the first thing I would do is either go pickup an 87-92 stock block and rebuild that just cuz it has forged pistons and you have shitty hyperutechnic pistons then you go get the trickflow twisted wedge cyl heads and grab a trickflow stage 2 cam with 1.6 stud mount roller rockers and get the trickflow track heat intake. you will make the best hp/tq out of any of the trickflow setups and its a good way to go for a street application. Then I would run a 76mm C&L mass air meter and grab some 24lbs injectors with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator by either bk or areomotive. there both the same just different colour. and run a 255 intank pump. itll be good if you ever want to use the nitrous later. also grab a 70-75mm tb and egr intake adapter your better to go with an anderson ford motor sport cold air induction power pipe too and runn the mass air off the end of it and it comes with a k&n that also breaths out the front of the cone. If your gonna go with a blower or something like a big nitrous setup go with 30 lbs injectors and an R intake. the R intake might help you by atomizing the fuel better and also run a 1 inch phenolic spacer because those intakes get extreamly hot and you need something to disipate the heat fast cuz no one wants hot air entering there engine =P also up your ignition setup if you can try and get an msd billit distributor not for the looks but because it runs a sealed bearing and is 1 degree more accurate than factory. you can also use your stock fuel rails and theyd work just fine because there bigger then the fox bodied mustangs. also go with either a basic msd 6al or get a digital 6 ignition with a coil or some sort and some taylor 10.4 mm race wires. big bucks but worth it in the end. also get some plug wire boots for them. youll save alot on wires in the future.and if you can sell your exhaust go with long tubes. there a ***** to get in but youll make more torque with them go with a 1 3/4 to 3 inch and run a 2 1/2 inch cat back

dang tamer had alot to say, lol,
well the holley systemax kit works pretty well, i myself just got some gt-40 heads, will probaly add a tfs intake and use stock cam, the "best"?? no, but it will work for some power, many opinions on this topic i bet, edelbrock heads, and rpm intake would be a nice setup, i wouldnt worry about having hyper pistons unless your running a big shot of n20, other than that you will be fine.

oh, and dont listen to tamer on the tfs cam#2, it has over .530 lift and will cause clearence problems with stock pistons (i could be wrong).
you can stick with the alphabet cams thru f, or tfs #1 to be safe on 1.6 rockers.

ummm yes listen to me. a factory piston has valve reliefs and the heads springs are good up to .540 lift. I myself am running a .533/.544 lift cam with a 284/290 degree and a *114 lobe seperation. It runs just fine. Havent had any clearance problems.

ok my bad, notice how i said " i could be wrong" duration has alot to do with it, running that lift on stock pistons is dangerous, i know a guy that was hitting a valve, evident when we pulled the heads, it was most likely caused by a missed shift.

Now factory springs up to 540 lift? well i didnt know that, i wonder why so many people upgrade them with just even a mild cam?

Bagh! Forget the cam, unless you get a package that comes with one. Mine runs fast enough on a stock cam now. As long as you keep it NA and dont boost or NOS it, your engine will be fine. If you want a package, eithe get the holly or the edelbrock. I got nothing but good things from my edelbrock stuff. But your best bet is to find this stuff used. I got the heads and a GT-40 intake for 1200$ and then traded straight up the GT-40 for a performer stage 2 ported intake. I guess the quesiton you need to ask is "How much am I spending at this time?" If memory serves, the kits run for around 2000$-2500$ plus install. Happy hunting

ackbar, how do you get a 109 trap out of that car? how much does it weigh? thats the combo i was wanting, but cant afford it, your the reason why I might stick with the stock cam, if i can get 106 mph id be happy.
My heads are gt-40 irons, 3 angle valve job, intake/exhaust ported on the heavy side, reseated valve seats, this is what the the machine shop told me, and that they flow 268-270cfm intake, what do you guys think i'll get from that, with stock cam and mods below, if i have to use the stock intake, I will port the heck out of the lower.

Coupe5oh - I drive the piss out of it. I normally do not power shift(want the T-5 to live a longer life), But its is consistant in the upper 107 MPH. I only hit 109.00 once and 108's a few times. The car is full weight with sway bars still hooked up. With a heavy ported stock upper and lower on stock heads I trapped 102 MPH. No remember, the more you grip, the lower your MPH. On 17in. DR I was getting 1.95 60ft's(that sucks) and on slicks 1.75 but the MPH fell to high 106's

I'm gonna be running a re-ground stock cam along with gt40p heads with 1.6's on with a tfs street heat upper and lower intake with a 65mm TB on a rebuilt 302, this whole combo wasnt to much, i'll let ya know how it runs.
