![]() Thanks guys.. I have been fighting with my car for a while on timing and fuel issues.. I have a code 41 now that means lean mixture at all times with no change. I have a 155lph fuel pump, AFR set at 40lbs with line off and still lean as can be.. my plugs look like i never fired the car up. I also have a code 67 engine tempurate out of range.. I have the 160 degree thermostate in my car. could that be causing my lean condition?

First I would throw out that 160* stat. It's not allowing the car to get up to the proper operating temp! I have a 1958 stat and it has worked the best out of any other temp stat I have used. When you got the code 67, how did you go about doing that? KOEO, KOER? Was the engine cold, or warmed up? When I bought my adjustable FPR, the instructions said that the stock regulator is set at 43psi, but I had always thought it was 40psi. At any rate I would try upping the fuel pressure out of the regulator some more. I have mine set at 46psi at the moment and it definitely helped keep my top end from falling off. Oh and I have my timing set at 15*.

![]() I got code 67 after reseting the computer and running the car around the block hard and idleing and everything fully warmed up to its potential with that stat... I plan on getting rid of that stat this weekend. this is what i have done to my car. trickflow upper and lower, 65mm TB with spacer, F cam, 1.6 to 1 roller rockers, equal length headers, h-pipe, flows, msd coil, holley anihalator TFi module, #24 injectors with pro-m 75mm mass air, bbk 155lph fuel pump, k&n, A3M1 ECU, etc. i have thefuel set to 40lbs with vaccum off. maybe i should raise it to 45 but i heard guys with drivability problems.. but then again every car is different. could that stat cause my code 41 lean fuel constant?

![]() I would go with an edelbrock HP or other quality aftermarket thermo @ 180 deg. By paying a few bucks more, you will get an accurate thermo with a larger mouth for more flow when open. It is amazing how different parts store thermos can be with regard to advertised temp vs. actual opening temp. I have tried several and also tested my Edelbrock on the stove in a pot of hot water with a baking thermometer. You may also like to swap out the 155lph to a nice 190 or even 255. Your pump may not be providing its advertised flow at higher RPMs when the pressure rises on the reg. If you install a FP gauge (I recommend an Autometer electric running off the schrader port), you will know for sure where you stand and it will serve you well moving forward.
