Pulled Codes.... Please Help
Cars running rough, doesnt feel like its got as much power. it also smells very rich, and when im slowing down, if i put in the clutch, sometimes the rpm's will drop to about 500 then back up to 1000 and then filnally smooth out at about 700ish.
the car is basically stock, 1.7 rockers, 70mm throttle body, exhaust gears and some other minor bolt ons. the codes that came up were 67, 10, 29, 33 testing KOEO, and 94, 44, and 33 with KOER. not sure if its affecting anything, but i wrecked a speedo gear a couple weeks ago, and pulled it out and havnt been able to get a replacement yet. if anyone could help me out with my problems, please let me know. thanks! |
Re: Pulled Codes.... Please Help
forgot to mention, some of the vaccum lines going to the egr valve have been melted and i cant find a replacement harness for them, so how do i go about deleting the egr system?

Re: Pulled Codes.... Please Help
Don't know about the harness, but a vacuum leak will cause what you described. I removed my smog pump, pinched off the inlet at the H-pipe, and removed all the other plumbing. Car runs fine, no codes.

The speedometer gear is one of your problems. The vehicle speed sensor is driven by the speedometer gear, and if it isn't sending a digital signal to the EEC, then the EEC is always assuming that you're not even moving. I'm sure the EEC is really trying hard to keep the A/F in range, especially when you have a normal engine load, yet it is seeing no change from the VSS. Get that fixed first.
As far as the idle bouncing, a vacuum leak will absolutely cause such symtoms, and especially on your speed-density computer system!!! The computer relies on the MAP signal to determine load on the engine. Any leaks will throw this off, and almost without fail into the rich territory. If nothing else, you need to at least PLUG those melted hard vacuum lines, and ensure that there are no other leaks anywhere else. Good luck. |

I have a question about the vaccum lines. The pipe with the 3 other pipes coming from it, what vaccum lines connect onto it? And then there's this other pipe thing that is on the passenger side of the intake near the back of the intake....there's a hose that connects from one side to the intake and then what....what connects on the other side? There's also some small pipes that are both sides of the crossover from the throttle body bolt base to the part where the intake curves, what goes on those hoses? It may sound confusing. Here's a pic of what it looks like.

Re: Pulled Codes.... Please Help
For what it is worth, the large vacuum source you wondered about is the one I have routed to the PCV. The tree lines go as you indicated and the one you have going to the PCV, I have blocked off b/c it once went to another vacuum source.
good luck. |
