Pulleys???
I'm at it again. I'm down to the pulleys after installing a new 70mm BBK T\B, Pressure regulator and EGR spacer and I was wondering if any of you could tell me which way the threads on the alternator are oriented. This is for my oldest son's 89 GT and I was hoping to have it done by the time he gets home tonight.
Over the past 2 years we've done the following to his poor lil car. 306, forged TRW's, 9.5-1, Entire rotating assy. balanced, Total seal gapless rings (I love these things) F303, Ford Racing roller rockers, BBK long tubes, BBK H-pipe, Flowmaster American thunder exhaust, full port and polish on stock heads, (new springs), TFS track heat intake, Pro-M MAF 77 mm(I think) 24# injectors (he's planning a blower this spring) with the above items installed today, 3:55's, aluminum driveshaft, Hurst comp. plus shifter. (the chrome one) Soon I am thinking the poor T-5 will go by-by so I'm sure something to replace that will appear on the list soon. |
you have alot of options
there are many a manufacture of pulley's . I for one am not a after pulley buyer , for one I have never taken into the claims of H/P gains ,vers problems with charging and just problems that i have seen with them ! If your building a H/P engine then you don't really need them for the street ! Not so for the track (only car) then go for it . it seems that you have a pretty nice build there . you can always get if that is what your asking chrome or trick looking pulleys . There are hundreds of sites ,with H/P stang stuff .

sorry
just reread your thread , and if i am not mistaken they are reversed ( lol i'am just rambling on, like in that last post like nobody's child ) yea, becareful with that ,cause half the time you have to use a impact wrench to get that pulley off ;)

I'm not so sure the pulleys are worth it but they're sitting in the box out in the garage and the boy bought em and I was gonna put them on. There's not enough thread showing to give me a hint and I'm hoping to not gut the threads with the impact should'st I attack it. THe other car already has them and so far there's been no problems but we didn't install them so if it made a difference, I wasn't there to witness it. I'll be able to tell you more tomorrow on the results. I have the engine running as well as I think it's going to with the heads that are on there so if they make a difference, shouldn't be hard to tell.
Thanks for the info. |

Another old person!
I remember the concert believe it or not. Amarillo doesn't see that kind of entertainment very often so it's easy to remember those. I didn't get to go, shift work does that to a person. I lived in Clovis when I was too young to remember (Air-Force brats) and we landed here when my Dad retired in 65. I think the last concert I attended was Chicago & The Beach Boys at the Kennedy Center in D.C. wayyyyy back in 1975. And no, I didn't have to tie the horses up with the wagon before I went in. (they had valet muleskinners) |
lol!
I got a totally different stang than yours...but I"VE LOVED MY PULLIES.... and ....I went ahead and bought the Pulley Puller set from Auto Zone or wherever....its been used MANY times...and now that I think of it.......I DONT HAVE IT NOW....I WONDER WHO HAS!!!!!!!!!! I've never , ever had a problem w/ my pullies at all! Good luck....
EL&P.......hahahhahaah.........seen Chicago myself....never was fortunate for the Beach Boys........ :( TNT :) I've been thru Clovis, N.M...my exes lived in Alb...:) |
I don't know if this helps any, but I found it easier to break the nut loose3 with the belt on. Then remove the belt. If I'm not mistaken, given the direction of rotation of the altenator, I think the threads are standard. I don't know if I was any help, but any info I can offer, I will.
