Default question about explorer heads

I read in 5.0 magazine that the '96 Ford explored heads are excellent bolt ons.
Will those heads directly bolt onto a 351w without mods?
Didn't Ford change the coolant passages on the 302 heads at some point that made them exactly like the older 351's.
I was thinking about reworking a set of those heads if it doesn't cost a bundle for machine work.
From what I understand, the '96 explorer's heads are not the GT-40p heads.....which I don't want.
