Default Question about a product sold on Ebay

Look at this ebay auction.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1843440047

Can someone explain to me how this works, if it works, and how its still emissions legal. It sounds to me like the egr is being bypassed somehow. Thanks

Sounds like scam to me. Look at his other items for auction...it's this same miracle device for every make of car. If there were truely something that simple that could add 20HP, we'd all already have done it.

Besides, your EGR doesn't recirculate exhaust gas under WOT anyway.

What a joke.

I dunno if the heads on the fords have exhaust crossovers... I have an olds motor and there's a crossover passage that goes through the intake from one side to the other, and if you had an EGR valve it would be on the intake.. I've seen people do all sorts of stuff to by pass this... some FILL the heads with casting material to just seal it off... some companies make metal PLUGS that fit in there and then again, technicaly if you got an intake that didnt have the passage it wouldnt let the exhaust across... it's in the worst place.. it goes right under the cab pretty much... and it heats up everything comming in... I can see how you'd want it closed up... I dunno if it'd effect emissions TOO much.. but I'm curious as to WHAT this device is

Ya im thinking its a scam too. ChunkFunky as far as what you are talking about, i have a pipe that runs from the passenger side header to the egr valve directly behind the throttle body. What this guy is selling kinda makes sense on my car (if it works) but i still dont understand how it can be emission legal. I live in a county in indiana that does require testing so i dont think i would trust it. Maybe i should buy one of these plans just to see what its all about. it sold for like $11.

sounds to me like an evac system, all it does is run your pcv hose to your exhaust. which in theory, creates a reduced pressure in your block allowing your rings and valves to seal better..(??) thus increased hp.

i know a couple drag race guys who do it..

10-20 hp, doubtful..

Im not sure, the description says it somehow rerouts the EGR. Call me stupid but i dont see it giving even 1 HP since the EGR isnt in use during full throttle, only during cruising speeds which is probably 1/8 throttle or something like that. Im thinking this guy is making a bunch of money from suckers that beleive this bull @#$% and isnt getting a bad rating from each person that buys it. Maybe the people buying this thing dont know about ratings. who knows. PKRWUD whats your theory??
