My car used to be an AOD, and when I got the gears, I had a smile stuck on my face for about 2 weeks straight. It was a dramatic difference and cut off about 4-5 tenths in the 1/4.
BUT, if I was to do it all over again with an Auto, then I wouldnt get anything short of 4.10's. Even with 3.73's, getting off the line with the AOD was a dogg, but once it got to about 3500RPM it started goin pretty well.
Don't let the highway RPM keep you from 4.10's, its really not much worse than with 3.73's. Unless you drive long distances on the highway really often, then I'd go with 4.10s if I were you.
good luck on your decision
