Default Question bout converting 4 banger to 5.0 EFI

I have an ex 4cly that now has a carbed 5.0 on it. I am about to convert to EFI. I also have a friend that will convert a 4cly soon. Our question was, all we will need is the computer and engine harness correct? and it should hook up to the car just fine? will there be alot of splicing wires and fabricating going on? We basically just wanted to verify that the harness and computer would plug into the 4 cly dash harness and stuff like that

Well, i have an 87 coupe, with an earlier model block, and i have already done all the roller conversion and all that stuff, its kinda a built motor. Now i want to put an EFI on it. I do plan on getting a tweecer so i can adjust the firing order and tune it. I want to use the A9L and a mass air set up, does that help a little? let me know what other info you need

I already have the computer and the harness. I jsut wanted to make sure that i can just install the computer and plug in the harness and be trouble free, when i do do the conversion, or will i need splice wires and fabricate the harness to make it work, and any other advice you might have

You'll need the proper distributor, ignition system electric fuel pump, and firing order.

Default efi swap

in order for it to be a plug in affair you will need a efi harness from a 87-89 stang. If you want it to be mass air it has to be an 89 .The 90-93 harness will plug in but you will need a 90-93 dash harness and column.Same goes for the computer. Here is a run down .

86 by its self

87-88 speed density

89 by itself only year with mass-air and no airbag

90-93

You can plug a 89 mass-air harness into a 87-89 car the dash harness in all those years including 4 cyl cars are the same.

As statedbefore you will also need the efi dist. and fuel lines

Thanks for the replies, its really appriciated. Im not sure what year engine harness i have, but if i had to guess, i would guess a 90's something. what about the mass air sensor, does that matter?

what would happen if i used a 90's something harness in my 87?
