Questions about 93 Cobra

Hey,

I am looking to sell my 90 LX (if interested, let me know :) ). I just love the Cobra too much and I have to get one, but I was looking to get some general information...

1) First off, what can it (Cobra) run from 0-60/1/4 mile if in good to great mechanical shape and a good driver?

2) I have heard people say that the listed 235 hp is underrated. Any truth/proof to this?

3) Any other stuff I should know? Low end acceleration vs top end? Top speed? Handling? My car has the police package suspension package...so I am wondering how the Cobra will handle in comparision.

Thanks,
DoranW

I have never had the opportunity to drive a 93 Cobra but a friend of mine owns one. His best time was a 14.2@99 with stock tires and no mods at all. The 235hp is more like 240hp but just get a chip and bump the timing and you'll be set. With similiar mods, FMS sells a kit for 87-93 stangs that rates at 265 or so and 280hp for 94-95 stangs. Go figure....

I own a 93 cobra and love it I had a 90gt before the cobra and a 85gt before that. The cobra is by far a nicer car all around. The suspension is alot more aggressive yet rides smoother. The engine revs alot quicker than the gt did. The 4 wheel disc breaks help a ton. If you can find one in good shape it's worth all the money their asking for it. As far as power I do think it is a little under rated. I did install long tube headers, and 3.73gears on 15inch slicks I ran 13.01 at 104 not bad for all stock motor. Everyone complains about the cobra computer I do alot of street racing and at the track beat most gt's there.

I personally think 93 cobra's are awesme, but for a few thousand dollars, you could have a low 12 second car that would destroy a cobra. Plus you could buy the cobra body kit, rims, and you're pretty much there. And for the price of a nice used one, like $15,000+, you'd still have money in your pocket. And unless your car has like 50k miles, youprobaly won't get the money that your asking, not disrespecting your car at all, just trying to give you some advice.

Well, I am hoping I can get that. My car is in perfect mechanical/electrical condition. Paint is perfect, no scratches. Interior is near perfect (seat colors are fading). I have full records of oil change or larger dating to 1992. It's been a great car, but I want cobra and part of that includes the manual. Has more than 50k :) but tranny is perfect and so is engine...

I hope I can get $5500...otherwise I probably will have to hold off. (I found out it is really hard to finance car + buy house @ 19...)

Thanks,
DoranW

Plus what is sweet about the Cobra is you throw a blower on there and you have a 12 second car! With stock motor, FMS 1 5/8" headers, bbk off-roadH-pipe, flows, and a Vortech A-trim running 5psi, my car made 314rwhp and 350ft-tq with no tuning. With some tuning to even out my lean spot, I'm sure it would have made 350rwhp. Definately material for 12's.

I would keep your car and turn it into a Cobra. The cheapest 93 Cobra I have seen is $13,000 and up. Get a body kit and paint it and you will only be put $1500. Use the rest of the money and build a 351 with a GT40 heads, cam and Cobra intake and you have yourself a Cobra R.:D

Front, rear, and side body work is more than 1500 I think... Also, I need a T-5. My auto is driving me nuts. Plus my car is getting up there in miles, and a Cobra will be able to hold its value better.

If I put 6 grand into it to turn it into a 'cobra', I probably get very much of that back whenever I decide to sell it.
