Questions on T-5 swap into 2.3L Auto
I've been planning on a 4-8 cylinder conversion for a good year now, and have purchased just about everything required EXCEPT the motor (Still saving up)... I reluctantly decided to replace the rear main seal on the 2.3L before the motor seizes up on me, and I am now at the point where I don't want to reinstall the automatic transmission.
I have a t-5 with all the required goodies for a conversion, IF I was running a 5.0... Now my question is, what do I need to make the t-5 work with my 2.3L? I'm thinking I need a bellhousing from a 2.3L 5-speed , and probably the flywheel... But what else, is there something I'm missing? Thanks in advance, as I wan't to get this thing wrapped up soon. |
A 5.0 T-5 will NOT fit on a 2.3L. Different input shafts.

Damn.

Your question makes me wonder, you did get a T-5 out of a 5.0 or new for the 5.0 right?
If you got a 2.3L T-5 thinking they were the same then the T-5 you have will bolt up, but it won't fit the 5.0 you want to bolt it up to. Even if it did, you'd blow it to pieces. |
No man, it's a real T-5 from a 5.0, recently rebuilt.
I've heard of people attempting to use 2.3L 5-speeds with v8's so I thought that perhaps the opposite would be possible. |
