Questions on torn torque boxes

Hey guys,

My '91 GT street car needs to have the lower boxes fixed. This car is fairly stock and has never been to the track or launched. Now, my question is can I just get away with only doing the lowers and not the upper boxes?

How much should I spend (in labor) for a shop to perform this repair? Is this something most people can perform in their driveway?

Thanks in advance,

Eric

Re: Questions on torn torque boxes

about any fox performance mag should have a torque box repair kit and if your gonna do it you should go ahead and do both upper and lower. The repair kit repairs and beefs up the thin metal to prevent it from happening again. any welding shop should have no problem doing the repair for under 100 bucks but if possible, try and find one that has some vehicle experience so they have a visual of what you want done. You can do it your self if you have a welder but regaurdless who does it you need some prep time on the inside of the car. you need to get the carpet and any wires that are close up off the floor boards because once you start welding the inside floor boards WILL get hot and could, if your not careful, catch the carpet on fire.
