dont ya hate it when nobody replys.

put a jack under the control arm and losen the top bolts remove the bottom bolts first then undo the top the rest of the way. you are supposed to replace the bottom bolts and the nuts up top, but if they are in good shape you can probably reuse them.
Thats the way i remember doing it. Remember to go straight to the alignment shop after you finish

thanx, but the problem is, the top nut is just spinning the whole thing? how do i lock it into place? i never thought this would be that hard, oh and if my car pulls, then i will go get it aligned.

Im having trouble with something i thought would take me an hour, sheesh it is 99% humidity outside right now, and im about to send a ratchet through the engine compartment.

ok fellas, i understand just one of those questions where you dont know what the guy has going on,

looking throug old threads i found a guy that had the same problem, lol he didnt get much help on that either, but one guy said he ground off the top part since its going to be replaced, another said they make a socket that holds it down while it spins the nut, im blowing it off until tommorrow...later

You really need an air gun to get that nut off. That is the proper way to do it and stop it from spinning. If you don't have one, there is a special tool they sell to do struts with a ratchet. You might be able to rent it at pep boys, autozone, etc. What I did was take the strut off with the plate attached, and took it to my friend who zapped the nut right off with an airgun.

I found out about this little problem when I installed new springs and a caster/camber plate. The solution was to buy an air compressor.

Well i do have a compressor, just no air tools i guess i'll check into getting a socket that might work, thnx, if anyone has any additonal info, i can use it, as i am obviously stuck in a tight spot.

you think autozone would lend me an air ratchet?

I'm not sure if they lend out air rachets, but they would probably lend you out the strut tool. If all else fails, remove the plate and pull the strut out with it attached like I said and take it somewhere with an air gun so they can zap it right off for you.
