R134a AC recharge prices
 

I'm trying to get my car's AC recharged and I got so many different estimates, it made my head spin. How much should it cost me to get my Mustang's AC recharged? It's already had the R134a conversion done. How much should it cost me? Can I do it myself?

yes go to your local parts store and get the 134 conversion kit for 35.00. even though its already converted, youll save on everything else. its really easy you just hook up the fitting(thats just like hooking an air hose up to a compressor) and follow the easy directions. one thing that is bad about doing it this way is that it wont be as cold as if you brought it in somewhere. if you bring it in somewhere they hook it up to a machine that creates a vaccum in the system so rather than pushing the 134 into the system it sucks it. it will be ok if you do it yourself though. Auto store are alwas having deals on cans of 134A. Since you already had the conversion done you just need a few cans of refigerant, not the whole kit with the oil. Its also a good idea to get a guage to read the PSI of 134A your putting in. I believe its between 25 and 35 PSI, once you start going over 40 PSI it won't blow as cold. I learned the hard way last year and had mine done by a shop. It never blew cold, my motor heated up quicker with the ac on, and I was getting bad gas milage. The guy ended up putting 100 PSI in my system, whick started to blow out one of my lines. I quickly fixed it myself and have had cold ac since. DO it youself and save some money!
