Post mass air/computer/electrical questions..help me

ok this the deal..my newly converted 4cly notch will run even without the mass air hooked up..the harness is out of a 90..the computer is out of an 89..the only modifications to the wiring harness(i.e. cutting into the harness, everything else just plugged in) was i made a jumper from the fuel pump relay to the EEC power relay because the fuel pump was not tuning on b4 that..i dont know if that would effect the mass air even though i am pretty sure a wire comes from the mass air and goes to the FP relay..i will look at the wiring shcematics again but in the mean time can anyone help..im stumped..thanks in advanced
