re-torquing intake manifold hot?

Just put on my performer RPM carb intake, brought the bolts up to torque in order - and kept torquing at 20ft-lbs till none list their torque.

This was 2 days ago - checked again - all held at 20 ft-lbs.

Will I need to retorque it hot? or is it good to go?

thanks.
Matt

It sounds like you're good to go if the engine has warmed and cooled a few times since you originally torqued them.

No, it has not been through any heat cycles yet.

I was wondering because I will have to remove the throttle cable bracket, and probably some other stuff to retorque it hot. I don't wanna take stuff off if I don't have to.

thanks,
Matt

Torque on the intake is only 15 to 18 ftlbs. If it holds torque after two days, don't worry about it.

If you haven't actually run the engine between checks you should do so. The expanding and contracting of the metal is what causes the bolts to come loose.

AFR recremends that you dont even tourque the intake bolts to there aluminum heads..they say snug em tight..i guess to many helicoils pop out if you get too tight..i know the elderbrocks come out pretty easy on there performer 5.0 heads..i still tourque the intakes bolts..just a lil less with aluminum heads..still seals fine
