Unhappy Axle bearing removal

helping a friend out ,it's a mint 1993 notch and someone tried to steal his back drivers side rim , he must of spooked them cause 2 miles down the road on an on ramp to I-95 , the back drivers side rim left the stang , really no damage he was lucky . but the backing plate on the back brake we had to replace ,and the axle bearing we are trying to get out ! we concocted a device with a slide body hammer , but not having any luck getting that bearing out any tricks will be greatly appreciated . just don't want to tear EEEERRRRR anything up thanx Michael
