![]() I recently bought a detroit locker and am not pleased at all with the difference, i mean it launches straight as an arrow, but it makes a hellacious noise when turning, is there something i can adjust to change the sensitivity-for more road oriented use.. Also, The backlash is correct, but there is excessive play in the differential that makes it really hard to drive. Whenever the road gets a little bumpy or the load is taken off the rear, the car starts to buck.. any ideas..?
thanx much |

![]() Well...you just described the characteristics of a Detroit Locker. Eventually that ratcheting noise you're hearing will wear your axles down. It goes like this...a locker does exactly that...it locks your rear wheels together like one long axel so to speak. Both run at the same time and the same rate. But to take a turn one wheels needs to rotate faster than the other and the locker doesn't like that. The only solution is to get another differential as far as I know.
