rear main seal
Anybody here know about replacing the rear main seal on a 5.0? I blew up the old 289 and am getting ready to drop in that 5.0 this weekend.
I haven't ever replaced one of these with the one piece seal before. I expected it to look more like the front seal (metal ring to seat it with), but it's more like an o-ring. Do I just pry out the old one with a screw driver and press in the new one dry? Or do I soak it in oil first? Any help would mean a lot at this point, I've already had to wait an extra weekend because of an UPS screwup on my parts. Please help, this is my daily driver and I'm tired of borrowing my parents car and bumming rides. |
