Rear tires rubbing, will shocks help?
I bought a set of Koni adjustable shocks in replacement of the Lakewood drag shocks that are on the rear end of my 93GT and have been there since it was in full drag mode. The tires (BFG 275's Drag radials) rub whenever I turn right or left. I'm alright going straight, but the minute I turn they rub. Should these shocks help? If not, does this mean I have to remove the Eibach lowering springs and go back to an original spec. spring?
------------------ Finally DONE!! 93 GT, 393 stroker w/ Edlebrock Performer heads and EFI, 30lb injectors, Dynamic Roller Mite C4, 8 pt cage, Sothside Machine bars & Sub-frames, 3.73's, '69 351W block w/SCAT crank. |
I have 255/50s w/trunk mounted battery. This combo caused the right rear to rub whenever I went over a decent sized bump, especially when someone was riding in the back seat. I had Eibach Pro Line springs and Koni reds. When I did the tire swap from 245/45/16s to 255/50/16s (great launhc traction increase), I switched to stock springs from a 2001 GT. I rolled the right rear wheel well lip a bit and the problem is pretty much solved. I am thinking of going with Maximum's adjustable perch arms, which will make things even better in terms of clearance. This might be a good alternative for you.
