![]() I just bought a ATI Procharger 11psi w/ 3 core intercooler, my question is what do I do about by 90,000+short block that is in need of a rebuild?
Should I rebuild the short block? (what pistons should I use, with trick flows) or Buy I short block from some where? (Who?) Thanks |

![]() That all depends on your budget. If you're rebuilding, consider forged pistons standard (8.8:1 comp. is always a good number). Good rings are important too. If you buy a shortblock from a builder, D.S.S. sells some good stuff for blower applications. Don't get too carried away....just get what you need. A low-comp 306 with a main cap girdle and good heads should be more than enough.

![]() Like 84 said, it depends on your budget. I run aftermarket stuff in my stock shortblock with a stock crank, a girdle, while running a 14 PSI ATI and have had no problems.
If you have the means of rebuilding, go for it. You won't need any real trick parts. The stock block and crank will work with your application assuming they're in good shape. In the end it might be cheaper to buy an assembled shortblock from a good engine builder if you don't know much about assembly. So again, I'll agree with 84 on the DSS suggestion. |
