reconfigure MAS?

I'm writing this for a friends 88 LX 5.0...

What he already has:
FMS 1.6:1 roller rockers, GT-40X Heads, B303 FMS cam, and it's boared 30 over...

He wants to add 24LB injectors, GT-40 upper/lower intake, etc.
What he wants to know is: What can/should he do about his stock mass air sensor? Can he reconfigure the sensor? Does he have to do something with the computer? If so, how would you go about doing it.

THNX!!

An 88 doesn't have a mass airflow sensor, and if it did with the parts you listed, the last thing he would need is 24lb injectors, a fuel pump would be a much smarter move.

??

It's a newer engine....... he put on the stock mas himself when he got the new engine..

A new fuel pump? He has stock air/fuel going GT-40X heads.... A new fuel pump would satisfy his needs?

Death....okay, now that we know its MAF, I always suggest a new pump, because the stocker is only 88lph and as it ages is even less than that, EVERY modded 5.0 needs a higher flow pump, as well as a regulator and gauge in my opinion. A 155 -190 pump should do him well for now.:D

Reconfigure...

If ou upgrade to 24 lb inj's you will have to get a MAF with a "sampling tube" calibrated for 24 lb injectors. You can do this yourself apparently, but I didn't and don't know anyone who has. There are plenty of benefits anyway from getting a upgraded MAF and flow tube. I have a C+L 73mm, but will be going to a 80mm to satisfy a blowers req's.
Have fun. I have a similar setup and it's great.

Get a Pro-M 75mm MAF sensor calibrated for 24lb injectors...that way you can take full advantage of the other modifications you plan to do. The stock MAF just isn't going to be big enough for what you want to accomplish....he should seriously look into having the car dyno tested and probably installing a chip as well. So far it sounds like he is on the right track. It should run well.:D

gtsr515,

If you upgrade your fuel pump, afpr, and gauge shouldn't you get bigger fuel rails and lines too? The stock rails and lines can only support 300hp don't they?

gtsr515 03-03-2002 12:02 AM

No sir!, they will support 500 horse all day!:D
