Refreshing the transmission?

What exactly does this do, and how much does it help?

Thanks,

do you have a t-5 or aod?

This would be in reference to a T-5.

A couple questions first:

1) Why do you want to get your tranny "refreshed?" Is it grinding, leaking, etc.?

2) How many miles are on your T5?

My guess would be that "refreshing" your tranny would include all or some of the following:

- installing new syncros
- inspecting the gears for excessive wear or chips
- changing the fluid

If your tranny feels fine, I would just forgo the "refreshing." Plus, if you decide to get it rebuilt your looking at least $500. I was actually quoted $700 for a rebuild

I was looking to do a conversion from my AOD. I do some of the stuff on my car, but I wouldn't want to do this one!

So I talked to my mechanic (very reasonable) and he was talking about the possibility of getting a used transmission and he could refresh it.

My car isn't that crazy, so I basically want the reasonable T5 for the cheapest price possible!

Thanks,
