reliable heads
Now after doing some research I have decides on the TW heads. I was going to buy the AFR 165cc but at the cost of $1400 I can purchase the TW (which flows close to AFRs) and an Intake system. My question is how reliable are the TW heads? I've heard remours of them going bad, not sure what the problem is, but I've just heard some remours about these heads. So if anybody have had or have these heads on now how are they, any problems?
Thanks in advance. |
The new TFS Heads (99+) are great....the problems are fixed. They make awesome power. The are about equivalent to the AFR 165's

Thanks, Yeah I would think they would fix the problem by now. I remember reading that the valve guides would wear out quick. but this book was a few years old. How can you tell if they are 99+?

Either run the numbers, of check the guides to see if the new ones are in there or not.

A visual inspection will tell you. The older heads used iron valve guides, and had a lot of problems with premature valvetrain wear. The newer heads are supposed to have bronze valve guides.

Go with the TW, the extra money spent on the AFRs could be put to good use elsewhere in your car.
They're both great heads, but honestly, that $150-300 more for the AFRs is what turned me off of them... |
