Replacing stock oil pan??? (long)
Besides the leak I mentioned in the other post I have rust bubbles starting on the underside of my pan. I want to replace the pan, but the pan I want is big bucks and I'm not sure how hard it will be to get at it. I understand I have to lift the engine to remove the pan, what is involved in this? Is it just a matter of loosening the engine mounts or is it more complex? Should I attempt this on my own or get it done at a shop? Anything I should do while I'm in there, such as new oil pump, windage tray or anything else? I don't really want to take this too far, but I don't want to waste the opportunity either. Hopefully I can stop the leak for this summer and replace the pan over next winter, but any suggestions, advice or tips would be appreciated. Any suggestions on particular pans? Canton, Moroso etc.?
