Default Resistor mod in IAT sensor work?

Been seeing a lot of the 4.6 guys putting 100K ohm resistors in the intake air temp sensor harness to fool the computer into thinking it's cold outside, thus enriching the fuel and bumping timing curves. Does it work for fox bodies? Might try it at track.

That mod makes no since on a 5.0 cause it is easy to advance or retard the timing by turning the distributor.

Although that box that slantman made is pretty neat.
