resurfacing flywheel

what exactly do they mean by re-surface a flywheel?... something i can do myself? thanx

Unless you work at a machine shop, no. Take it to Napa, they'll do it for like $35. Its basically like cutting rotors, except just one side.

Unless your flywheel has deep gouges in it, just use some emory cloth to rough it up. Then install it.

When I have a flywheel that has deep gouges, I just replace it.

*note* When you resurface a flywheel you lose thickness. This can cause problems if you don't shim the wheel correctly. The material lost has to be made up somewhere.

I have learned that If I am going through all that trouble, might as well put a new one in. But then again I am getting lazy and dont want to be under the car all the time

try to find a shop that will use a Blanchard grinder to turn the flywheel.
you want to keep the same geometry between the friction surface and the center hub.
