Default Air silencer

Where is the air silencer on a 1994 and do you get horsepower by removing it? Another words is it worth removing it?

Look under the air box where the filter is. It should be under there in the fenderwall attached to the airbox.

Yes, it's worth removing it. It's about 5 free horspower for ya!

The silencer on the 94-98 stangs is the big black plastic box that is right behind the passenger side headlight. That and cat back exhaust were the first things I did to my car. I would remove it if I was you. Your car will breath a lot better and get free hp. I would replace the whole thing with a cold air intake or a K&N filtercharger. I got the filtercharger first not thinking about cold air, but they were actually the same price. The cold air kit that I got was from MAC and it came with chrome pipe and in my opinion looks a lot better. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions just ask.

I noticed that you have a V6 stang, I don't think you're going to get a very large gain from removing the air siliencer. I mean, you probably won't even get a small gain.

I don't even know how the 3.8 V6 responds to the removal of the air silencer. I think the new 4.6's don't like it and it actually removes power. I'd do a little more research first.
