Which heads with pedistal mount rockers
My question is regarding head choice with pedistal mounted rockers, i have crane 1.6 roller rockers and the crane2030cam with 544 lift, i originally wanted the trickflow street heads but have since been told that they use only stud mount rockers, i would like to find the best head and use my pedistal mounts, any opinion or option is apreciated ,thanks in advance(would prefer an aluminum head)

I've never used any of these heads, but I would go with:
1. Brodix ST 5.0 2. GT-40X 3. Holley 4. Edlebrock Performer Just my opinion....I doubt there is much difference between them. BTW, that cam might be a bit big, what does everyone else think? ------------------ 1989 lx notch 89,000 miles bolt-ons,stock heads/cam 60'- 2.07, 8.90@78, 13.93@99 |

If your wallet's fat enough I would say get AFR's without a doubt. They put up similar flow #'s in comparison with twisted wedge heads, but they have smaller runners and valves which means good velocity and torquey performance on a street motor.

I forgot about the AFRs. I'd put them at the top of that list, but figure on paying $1400. Also, some people have had problems with the rocker arm bolts being too long on the pedistal mount versions. The bolts are threading in all the way to the bottom of the pedistal, before the rocker is even set to zero lash. They might call for longer than stock pushrods.

Mike, just be sure to ask AFR what the springs that come with the heads are good to lift wise. I doubt they will be good to that amount of lift, so you might have to get them to upgrade the springs.
PS. I'm in North Delta |
