Default Rolling Fender Lips

I need some guidance here on the proper way to roll the fender lips to fit wider wheels/tires. What I've got so far is that you remove the 12:00 screw, and roll a wooden baseball bat between the finder and the tire at a 45 degree angle. I understand all of that as a basic concept...

... But which end of the bat do you use? I guess that would vary depending on ride height? And do I do this with the stock rims on the car, or the new, bigger rims? And lastly, do you do this with full weight on each corner?

I ask because my car is lowered about 1" in the front, and it appears as if a wooden baseball bat would not fit at all between the tire and the fender... and I really don't have any idea at what a finished product should look like...

Basically, I'm looking for the most detailed description of the process as possible...

I'm not an expert, but i think you would have better luck with a BFH patiently aimed in the right spots. We have done this to several cars and had it turn out really well. You do have to be careful where you hit or you will knock a big ole dent in your quarter. Good luck!

i would say, find a local body shop, who is willing to attempt this for you.... they would have better success...


and just so you know, one misjudgement doing this yourself will result in you obtaining the services of a body shop, but at a much higher cost..

The TireRack has a tool available for rent for this specific purpose. I recommend you get that.

Aw hell, all you gotta do is get a WOODEN baseball bat, and slip it in between tire/fender. Then as you roll the bat (jammed between the tire and fender) the tire has more grip, so the bat will slide along the steel fender.
You do this at a 45-degree angle. Repeat process a few times, small increments at a time. You may need to have a friend sit on the fender to lower the car (apply pressure) while you roll fender.





You can always do the saws-all trick too... and actually widen the fender...
