Default serpentine belt

Hey everyone, I just got my mustang a few days ago and I've been doing some minor things to it. I want to change the serpentine belt but I'm not sure how to go about it. What do I need to loosen, etc? Thanks a lot.

chaos:

You need a 5/8" socket (wrench) to loosen the bolt on the tensioner which is round and sits just to the right of the alternator, on top of the engine, easy to access.

When you loosen the nut on the tensioner you can then rotate the tensioner and remove the belt.

Get a Motorcraft or good quality serpentine belt. They last quite awhile.

To replace the belt, you must route it according to the diagram that should be on a sticker under your hood.

Once the belt is on, pull the tensioner as tight as you can and tighten the bolt.

As long as you've routed the belt correctly, you're done.

Figure out the size of the bolt head on the tensioner at the center of the pulley. Put the correct size socket on the breaker bar and then try to loosen the bolt. The tensioner will just move upward and loosen the belt. It's spring loaded. Put the new belt back on the same way the old one came off and repeat the process with the tensioner. That's all there is to it.
