Which set of heads do you suggest?

What set of heads does everyone suggest I should put on my 1979 Mustang Pace Car. I'm looking for a mild street car. Nothing absolutely crazy, but nothing that won't do me much good. I've been told the heads on 1979 302 sucked *** to begin with so that'll be one of the first things I change.

I like the Edelbrocks. Cheaper option would be the iron GT 40's.

I think from 1997.5 and up 302 Explorer/Mountanier have the P heads. This are good heads. You may luck on a set at a junk yard. My years may be off.

I thought it was either '92, or 95 to early 97 explorers that had the gt40p heads. I could be wrong. Check out this website. I am considering using them to be different, and the prices arent bad. Worth looking into.

I think you should check out the link that JaxtheDJ posted for you.
I've been hearing a lot of good things about those Thumper heads. You can't go wrong with ported and polished heads for $600 that will outflow the GT-40 series heads.
Keep in mind that these are E7 heads!!!
When I get enough cash, I'm getting a set for my 351w

If I recall correctly, wouldn't he need different headers for those GT-40p heads?
I tink there was something about them but I don't remember......

Yes. There is clearance issues with the plugs due to the angle in which they sit in the head.
